Dredging works in Eemshaven, phase 1

Abeko Server 3, fitted with a Komatsu PC800 excavator, was used for a harbour-deepening project in Eemshaven. The dredging works consisted of dredging fine sand, soft clay and silt to a maximum depth of 15.5m. The dredging works were carried out mainly on the embankment of Wilhelminahaven and Doekegat (access channel). Approximately 230,000m³ was dredged over a period of slightly longer than two months.

The dredged material was unloaded into split barges and subsequently transported by tug to a dumping area situated in the Wadden Sea. Two split barges with a hopper capacity of 600m³ proved to be sufficient to maintain the productivity of Abeko Server 3.
