About your responsibilities.
As a bargemaster you are a boatman on a pontoon and you lead the crew. You control the pontoon, plan the work and keep a close eye on progress. You maintain contact with the client about planning, implementation and any challenges on location. You also carry out minor maintenance on the pontoon and equipment, coordinate repairs and ensure a safe, neat working environment.
You actively participate on location and take initiative during toolbox meetings and safety drills. Depending on the project, you work in a day shift or according to a 24-hour schedule. On international projects, you sometimes stay abroad for several weeks, working closely with your team, the technical department and management.

What you bring.
You possess strong communication skills and naturally lead a team. You are resilient under pressure, work independently and with a customer-focused approach, and consistently deliver high-quality work. With your motivation and positive attitude, you’re also a great colleague. You have technical insight or experience in maintaining heavy machinery and are proficient in preparing reports, schedules, and timesheets. Finally, you speak and understand both Dutch and English.
Additional requirements include:
- STCW Basic Safety with 4 components: Elementary First Aid, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities, and Personal Survival Techniques.
- Powerboat Advanced Certificate
- VHF (Basic Marine Radio Certificate)
- Seafarer medical
- Valid passport
- Seafarer’s discharge book
